Affordable Respectable Watches
As a graphic designer I’ve began to appreciate design in all things. From furniture, movie credits, homes/architecture, cars, and even watches. After receiving a Rolex Datejust with Roman Numerals as a wedding gift, my infatuation for well-made automatic watches began. I started to take note of different watch manufacturers and started scouring the web, absorbing information about the topic of horology. As a measly freelancing graphic artist, much of the coveted timepieces by top Swiss watch manufacturers were, unfortunately, out of my reach.
That’s when I noticed there was a segment in the watch market that appealed to people with an appreciation for the engineering that goes behind a mechanical or automatic watch but didn’t have the financial means to acquire high-end timepieces.
The watches above are in my opinion, some of the best watches you can get for around $500 USD or less. The all offer the same features of much more expensive watches. Hacking seconds hand to set time perfectly with your mobile phone, date windows, and automatic movements that are robust and should be easily repaired in the event that you need servicing. They’re good looking on the wrist too.
So, until I’ve won the lottery or converted my business into a giant revenue generating machine, I’ll continually look the sub $1000 watch market and start my collection.
As of now, I had to say that my two favorite sub $500 watches on Amazon.com are as follows.
I feel like you can’t go wrong with either watch. You can wear them daily and go about your activities from work, take a swim, and even wear them with formal wear. Swap the bracelet for a nice brown leather nato and you’re done.
