My Favorite New Lens | Tokina
This is the Tokina AT-X Pro FX 16-28mm f/2.8 For Canon. I’ve been in the market for a wide angle zoom lens since I first started shooting. Considering the price of other competitive lenses, the features, and wide aperture…it was an obvious choice to pick this lens up. Not just pricing, but quality too. I was fortunate enough to handle the lens before hand. It’s got some serious weight to it. Feels solid.
It’s great for shooting real estate photos. That’s what I use it for mainly. If you’ve ever tried to take a photo of an interior of a bathroom that’s only approximately 100 sq ft., then you probably know the desire to have a capable wide angle lens.
Usually, I always shoot with a prime lens (I own the Canon 28mm 1.8 and Canon 50mm 1.4) but saw that you could keep a constant f-stop of 2.8 at any zoom range with the Tokina. All for under $600 delivered to your door.
The picture quality has been great so far. I’ve taken several shots already of interior spaces for work. There’s definitely some vignetting on the full-frame sensor (5D Mark II), but nothing that can’t be fixed in post. The distortion honestly wasn’t as bad I thought too. Also very manageable in post. AND, I love the focus ring and how easy it is to switch manual and auto.
